Let me introduce myself...

 Hi there,                                                                                      Portrait

I'm mezz. I live in Sydney, Australia and have all my life. Until a few years ago I was immersed in the world of music. I still am, to a certain extent. I am a music teacher in schools, a tutor of flute out of school, but I no longer play in orchestras or organise and play in concerts. Now, I add jewellery designer to my list of occupations.

I fell into beads purely by chance. I have been a crafter all my life. My mother taught me to sew, knit, embroider and tapestry before I was ten years old. I have always enjoyed paper crafts, also, and love making my own cards, especially if that also means a day with the cousins or friends who also love card making. Craft is at its best when it is social. Scrapbooking was added to the list of hobbies around eight years ago. I have been putting together a heritage album of my dad's old photos for many years now and hope to do the same with my mother's photos soon. Now, there is also beading.

I don't know that I would classify my beading as purely a hobby. It is more consuming than that. A passion, definitely. So how did it begin? I first worked with beads by adding them to my cross stitch projects and the sparklies began calling to me. Next, while visiting the first Sydney Bead and Gem Show, I bought a beading kit to make a Christmas decoration and it has all grown from there.

You will note, from my work that I prefer designs that are refined, nothing too fussy. Simplicity is important but simplicity does not mean ordinary as you can see. Thankfully, those boundaries still allow me to work in many styles and explore many of the numerous beading techniques. I am discovering a great love of wire wrapping and wire design and am hoping to develope that section of my work.

I am only at the beginning of my discoveries. All of the jewellery on this site is handcrafted. Many of the pieces are one of a kind. Vintage beads, hand made beads and the creative techniques used mean the designs can not be recreated. Personally, I'd rather be unique anyway. I hope you come back often and follow my progress. If you would like, you can keep up with me by visiting my blog.

Enjoy
